This mix means viewers can choose based on genre rather than simply following whatever title is most visible on a streaming homepage.
Crime and Thriller Series to Watch
Crime and thriller remain two of the most popular categories in streaming.
If that is your preferred genre, several titles in the current and upcoming schedule are worth tracking:
Lupin Part 4
A returning international crime series centered on Assane Diop.
Below
A supernatural thriller built around a mysterious creature and a remote coastal setting.
The Diplomat Season 4
A political thriller focused on international crises and diplomatic relationships.
The Gentlemen Season 2
A returning crime series that combines action and comedy.
Reacher Season 4
A returning action and crime series centered on Jack Reacher.
These titles cover very different styles of thriller storytelling, so genre alone is not enough when choosing between them.
Comedy and Romance Series
If you want something lighter, there are several options across the current streaming calendar.
Scrubs Season 2 continues the medical comedy format on Hulu, while Nobody Wants This Season 3 returns to Netflix with its romantic-comedy storyline.
Indian streaming platforms also continue to add comedy-drama titles such as Dupahiya Season 2.
Quick comparison
| Series | Style | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Scrubs Season 2 | Medical comedy | Hulu |
| Nobody Wants This S3 | Romantic comedy | Netflix |
| Dupahiya Season 2 | Hindi comedy-drama | Prime Video |
Horror and Supernatural Shows
October naturally brings increased attention to horror and supernatural programming.
Netflix’s October lineup includes Below, while its broader catalog additions include horror movies and other Halloween-oriented content.
Below is particularly relevant for viewers specifically searching for a new horror or supernatural series rather than a movie.
Other services are also adding horror titles and seasonal programming throughout October.
Returning Series vs. Brand-New Shows
One thing to remember when browsing new web series lists is that “new” does not always mean a completely new show.
Streaming guides usually include two types of releases:
Brand-New Series
These are shows making their debut for the first time.
Examples include:
- East of Eden
- War
- Below
Returning Series
These are established shows receiving a new season or part.
Examples include:
- The Diplomat Season 4
- Nobody Wants This Season 3
- Lupin Part 4
- Scrubs Season 2
Both categories are useful when building a watchlist, but returning shows may require knowledge of previous seasons.
How to Choose a New Web Series
With so many shows launching every month, a simple filtering process can save time.
Start With the Genre
Decide what you actually want to watch:
- Crime
- Thriller
- Comedy
- Drama
- Romance
- Horror
- Science fiction
- Fantasy
- Reality
- Animation
Check the Platform
If you only subscribe to Netflix, for example, there is little reason to build a watchlist around a Hulu-exclusive title.
Check the Episode Count
A limited series can be easier to finish quickly, while a multi-season show is a longer commitment.
Check Whether It Is a Returning Season
If a title is Season 3 or Season 4, check whether you need to watch the previous seasons first.
Read the Premise
A genre tells you what category a show belongs to. The premise tells you what the actual story is about.
That distinction can save you from starting something that sounds interesting but does not match your preferences.
New Web Series vs. New OTT Releases
These terms are often used interchangeably, but they are slightly different.
New web series usually refers specifically to episodic television and streaming shows.
New OTT releases can include:
- Web series
- Movies
- Documentaries
- Reality shows
- Specials
- Anime
- Regional-language productions
This distinction is useful when searching for entertainment content because someone searching for “new web series” may not necessarily want a list of movies.
How Often Should You Check New Web Series?
Streaming schedules change throughout the month, so checking once a week is usually enough for casual viewers.
If you follow several platforms, a weekly check can help you catch:
- Newly released series
- New seasons
- Delayed releases
- Upcoming premieres
- New regional content
- Trending shows
Release dates can also change, so always verify the final schedule on the streaming service.
